The Process
Step 1: Determine how to improve the cover.
This was the original CD cover, and I felt that it didn't properly convey the emotions of the album. So I wanted to try to incorporate the moods and themes from the music.
Step 2: Concept Sketches
I played around with a few different concept sketches, trying to strike a balance in conveying themes of royalty, war, struggles, dark, light, growth, and rising. Before ultimately coming into the final sketch.
Steps 3 & 4: Illustrating the sketch and refining the final illustration.
